Choose the Perfect Venue

The Heart D Farm Wedding & Event Venue is the perfect barn style venue in Central Florida. We are situated on 30 private acres surrounded by large local ranch land. In other words…we have no neighbors…just distant views of open pastures and beautiful oak trees. Your guests will feel the serenity of the farm from the moment they arrive. It is truly a special place.

Our space is intimate yet comfortable enough for your guests to mix and mingle. The cocktail hour can be indoors and / or outdoors for a open air vibe. You may want to include our special Champagne Wall in your celebration. Upon entering the reception area your adult guests will select a glass of bubbly from our Champagne Wall to lift a glass in a toast to the happy couple when you are announced as husband and wife.

Timing Is Key

Timing plays a huge role in making your cocktail hour seamless. Coordinate with your vendors to make sure everything transitions smoothly from the ceremony. Work closely with your planner, photographer, and caterer so all the pieces fit together. We suggest having your outdoor wedding ceremony about an hour and half before sunset. The ceremony should not take more than 30 minutes. This will give you about an hour of the special golden-hour for your sunset photos while your guests mingle and enjoy the cocktail hour.

Create a Drink Menu You will Enjoy

Your drink menu is the star of this hour, so why not make it unforgettable? Include a mix of options to cater to your guests’ tastes. Standard beer, wine, and soft drinks are great, but signature cocktails can make things extra special. Smoky Old Fashions or a flavored Margarita are always a nice touch. But you might want to consider something that brings the tropical Florida flair to the celebration.

For example:

  • Florida Sunshine Margarita with fresh-squeezed orange and lime juice.
  • Tropical Rum Punch featuring local rum from St. Augustine Distillery.
  • A non-alcoholic Florida Strawberry Lemonade as a refreshing mocktail option.

Don’t forget to include creative drink signage and cute names for your cocktails that tie into your wedding theme!

Long table with a black table cloth with grazing boards on top and the entire table and boards are filled with cheeses, grapes, sliced meats rolled into shapes like flowers, assorted crackers, smoked cream cheeses, pesto, cheese balls, strawberries, figs and green and black olives. It is colorful and very tasty in appearance.

Local Bites to Elevate the Experience

Pair your drinks with delicious hors d’oeuvres that celebrate Central Florida’s cuisine. Work with your caterer to incorporate local flavors like mini key lime pies, fried green tomatoes, or seafood-inspired bites such as crab cakes or shrimp cocktail. For a twist, consider a food station featuring fresh ingredients, such as a mini taco bar or a build-your-own-biscuit station. You may even want a colorful grazing table with smoked cream cheese dips and amazing pesto.

Set The Mood With Entertainment & Décor

The right entertainment and décor can turn your cocktail hour into an experience guests will rave about. Think beyond background music—how about a solo wedding musician playing an instrument like a violin, guitar or even a saxophone. Entertainment creates great energy and keeps the mood fun while allowing guests to relax and converse.

Interactive experiences also leave a lasting impression. Consider ideas like a photo booth with props or lawn games in an outdoor space. More recently phone booths with a retro phone for guests to leave audio voice greetings for the couple has become a fun item to include in the big day.

Work With Your Vendors for a Seamless Flow

Much of the success of your cocktail hour comes down to well-executed timing and coordination. Here’s where your vendors come in. Your planner or day-of coordinator ensures the space is ready and the bar is stocked before guests arrive. Discuss timing with your photographer so they can capture authentic cocktail hour moments without pulling you away from the fun.

Be transparent with your florists and rental company about décor they need to transfer from the ceremony space to the cocktail area to avoid delays. And lastly, reconfirm with your catering team to ensure the drinks are chilled, the snacks are on point, and the bar staff knows the flow of events. Obviously….we will assist with this on wedding day.
